Paid Family Leave - CA Residents

General Overview

Beginning July 1, 2004, as an employer in the State of California, IES is required to participate in a Family Temporary Disability Insurance plan for all California employees. This is handled through payroll deductions beginning January 1, 2004. California employees become eligible for up to 6 weeks of paid family leave during any 12-month period through a self-insured disability insurance program. Paid family leave is available to provide care for parents, children, spouses and domestic partners or to bond with a new child.

IES participates in a state approved third party administrator plan through Voluntary Plan Administration (VPA). As an employee, the benefits of participating in the VPA plan include higher wage benefits to you, without the hassles and red tape of reporting through the State of California.

You should review the Paid Family Leave Document within your first week of employment.
